ROYAL RAINDROPS CRABAPPLE

Royal Raindrops® Crabapple (Malus ‘JFS-KW5’ PP 14375) is a popular choice for Kansas gardeners. Of all the trees and flowers that show off in springtime few can match the Royal Raindrops® for drive off the road good looks. It's the Christie Brinkley of crab trees. It is one of those plants that you love to sell in the nursery business because it makes customers happy.

crabroyalraindrops1.jpgIn May, innumerable magenta pink blossoms that do not fade. The springtime leaves with deep purple cutleaf foliage. This tree is gorgeous in bloom and offers a strong contrast to white blooming pears or dogwoods.

In October, the leaves turn bright fall colors of bronze, orange and purple give this tree an all-season appeal. Sparkling red berries hold well on the branches and are favored by songbirds. Royal Raindrops® superior disease resistance plus heat and drought tolerance make it a favorite.

This is not your grandmother's old fashioned crab tree. The small hard fruit is not messy and leaves are not bothered by apple scab fungus and fireblight.
If you’re already a fan of this unique tree send us your photos and observations. We’d love to share how it’s growing in your garden!
